New K-K Soundmaster keeps the noise down
Kwik-Klik's brand new Soundmaster system creates a soundproof external chamber that suppresses the noise made on site by powerful generators, pumps and ventilation equipment.
The temporary soundproof enclosures were developed jointly by Kwik-Klik and Rentavent, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of air quality control equipment.
Soundmaster uses heavy duty Firemaster panels that are 100mm thick and internal faces are fitted with noise-reducing baffles. Special mats are also used in each chamber to suppress the noise.
Soundmaster is designed to help clients meet stringent Noise Prohibition Orders that are often imposed on retailers who occupy urban sites. When construction projects involve piling and heavy duty work, large generators and air pumps are needed on site. It makes sense to house these outside so that the store can continue to trade normally in unaffected areas.
The installation shown is at a Tesco supermarket in Wigan. The main 4 metre high temporary chamber housed heavy duty generators to power piling rigs, plus pumps and extractors to expel fumes and dust.
“Building an effective soundproof chamber is a real technical challenge. The expertise of Rentavent, who understand acoustics and air quality management was essential in making the Soundmaster chamber effective and safe.” says Kwik-Klik’s MD, Tony Doherty.
