K-K goes 'air side' at major UK airport
Kwik-Klik hoardings were the ideal choice when Mace Construction was looking to screen off substantial renovation work at the UK's major airport in the north.
Kwik-Klik Soundmaster was the 'heavy duty' system chosen to shield passengers from the construction area. 150 linear metres of panels are being used during this project.
The three-month programme will include the installation of new escalators between floors and this will involve cutting the slab and using piling rigs.
Soundmaster panels will be installed up to ceiling height, which is 6 metres high in some places, and the 100mm thick panels will help to reduce noise and provide sturdy fire-proof protection for passenger areas.Three work areas will be screened off and they are all 'air side'. This means that all members of the Kwik-Klik team have to pass through strict security and police checks when entering and leaving the work area.
Tony Doherty, MD of Kwik-Klik believes the airport project is one of the most successful yet. "The panels look so good in-situ, I don't think passengers will notice that they are there. They blend in well with the modern airport design because they are clean and bright, but they are also providing essential fire protection."Mon 22 Jan 2007
