Trackside hoarding to create a new main platform

Kwik-Klik has installed a 60 linear metre trackside hoarding at Reading Station, opposite Platform 4. This enabled a new platform to be built behind the hoarding.

The project uses 3 metre high and 500mm wide Ultraspan panels which are manufactured to Network Rail's R-11 specifications, creating a hoarding that is in Network Rail's distinctive corporate colours.

Working with the main contractors Costain Hochtief, it was decided that a raised timber frame was the most practical and cost-effective solution. The panels used are made from 100% recycled PVC and at the end of their life, these panels are also 100% recyclable.

The Reading Station upgrade programme will take 9 months and will transform the appearance of the station (See Reading 2). In addition to improving passenger accesss, track improvements will improve passenger and freight train times.
