Extensive hoarding for £9m station upgrade project

Kwik-Klik has installed a number of hoardings at Newcastle Station which will allow Miller Construction to begin a £9m transformation of the station.

The station is one of only six UK stations that have achieved Grade I listed building status.

During the first Phase of the renovation, Kwik-Klik has installed 56 linear metres of Network Rail-approved white Ultraspan R-11 panels on trackside platforms, including two secure double access doors for personnel to enter the worksites. This 20-week programme will ensure the retail space at the station is considerably expanded in the areas close to the main entrance.

A further 170 linear metres of hoarding will be required for Phase II of the project, when the station's Travel Centre and customer information areas will be improved. The external portico at the front of the station will also be fully glazed during this project.

The Kwik Klik modular hoarding panels will offer a robust, maintenance-free hoarding solution throughout the project and some of the hoardings used in Phase I will be re-used in Phase II.
